Contemporary designs often appear more simple than they are. This large waterfall island top features 3″ thick solid walnut and weighed over 300 lbs. The mitered corner uses mortise and tenon joinery. The top was given a subtle stain (less red than it appears in the photos) and clear coated with post-catalyzed lacquer.
