Texas Mesquite Board – ST12 – Each Texas Mesquite Board was cut from hand-picked wood with a clear desire to let the wood sing. We do as little as possible to these trays to preserve their natural beauty. We don’t even add handles because, frankly, they just don’t need them. We will add feet to the bottom, if you desire.
This board is big and bold. Normally we recommend using these types of boards strictly as a serving tray. However, mesquite is a tough wood, so you can use it for hors d’oeuvres and cheese trays, or you can use it for chopping. It would also be great with a nice slab of meat straight off the grill!!
The mesquite in this board was reclaimed from trees that were being clear-cut for a real estate development in Texas. We picked through thousands of rough boards and hand-selected the best possible examples for our serving trays. Mesquite is extremely hard and dimensionally stable. Because Texas mesquite (Honey Mesquite) endures such harsh growing conditions, the resulting wood has lots of visual character… worm holes, cracks, and voids are typical, and add to the charm and uniqueness of each serving tray. We generally fill these holes and cracks with food-safe resin that has been tinted black.
Dimensions at the longest/widest part are approximately: 19 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ x 1 5/8″
