After looking for a good magnetic knife rack and being unable to find one, I spent a month designing, prototyping, and testing my own version. The result, I believe, is one of the best knife racks that money can buy. I start with a gorgeous piece of exotic hardwood, then embed a continuous strip of rare earth magnets into the surface of the wood. I then overlay a thick piece of matching wood veneer on top. By appearance, it looks like a piece of wood. But the magnetic power is sufficient for even the largest Chinese cleaver.
Features of our knife holders
Solid wood surface is gorgeous and prevents gouging and scratching of knife edges that often occurs with traditional metal strip knife racks.
Continuous strip of rare earth magnets means no dead zones. Put the largest or the smallest knife anywhere along the strip, rather than only being able to use 5 or 6 particular spots.
The size of rare earth magnets provides the perfect magnetic force… strong enough to hold even the largest cleavers, but not so strong that you have to use more than one hand to remove a knife.
Screw holes are pre-drilled at 16 inches apart, which is the typical distance between the studs in your kitchen walls.
Mounting hardware included (screws and countersunk washers) at no extra charge
We currently have 3 woods available: Wenge, Makore, and Lacewood.
Wenge Magnetic Knife Rack Wenge hails from Africa. The grain is a very dark brown with black streaks. It is a very durable, strong wood. It blends in well with either a contemporary kitchen or a traditional kitchen with dark cabinetry.
Makore Magnetic Knife Rack Makore comes from Western and Central Africa. It has a rich brown color with darker brown running through the grain pattern. Most of the grain pattern is straight, but it can have some wave to it. It tends to have a natural luster and shine. Very lovely wood.
Lacewood Magnetic Knife Rack Lacewood is found in tropical South America. The color of the wood is light brown with auburn grain patterns. The grain pattern is extremely unique – it looks like a piece of lace or even waves from the sea. It has a lot of figure and movement. Extremely unique-looking wood.
